For anyone who knows me, I live in the Chicago land area. Its no secret that I love it here. I am about an hour away from the American girl place, and I recently had to leave my small town to the big city. So since I was in Chicago by Michigan Avenue I decided to go stop by my favorite shop and buy up some Rebecca outfits for Samantha and Nellie cause as I've posted they have no outfits. I was in one of my punker outfits.

Ignore the other box. See that outfit? Yeah I was prancing around American girl place Chicago like that. Not pictured are my fishnets, knee high socks, my boots. Not to mention the skeleton back patch or my skeleton hand hair clip. Also one of those belts have three different lengths of chains hanging down. I am pretty proud of my gear! *ahem* Never the less...
I walked into the American girl place and almost everyone within a 20 foot radius stopped what they were doing and stared at me. Which is something I'm completely used to, so I went on my merry way, poking around Rebecca's stuff looking for her school outfit. I occasionally moved and smiled because I was in someones way, most mothers smiled while other yanked their children away as if I was some monster. Mainly I ignored it until I was heading up to the cashiers with three boxes in my hand when I stopped, because a girl no older than two in a stroller grabbed my lowest hanging chained and yanked. I stopped and laughed and asked her very politely to let me go and she smiled and released and the mother ACTUALLY started a conversation with me. A very nice polite conversation. Then an employee stormed up to me and told me since I was obviously not buying anything I would have to leave the premises. She told me I was scaring the other patrons. The mother I was talking to opener her mouth and said I was clearly headed to the cashiers with three boxes in my hand ready to go. So I said it was fine and drop all the boxes on the floor and left. I turned to leave and when I was walking away I looked back to see the manager yelling at the employee.
Now why is it that because I dress differently I am suddenly a terrible person? Why is it I need to leave the store I've been visiting since I was 3 years old? I wasn't being mean or distributing anyone. Yeah I accidentally dropped a box before heading over to the cashiers but the was quickly resolved. The only person I talked to that day was that really nice mother and her sweet, curious daughter. But I need to leave because I was "scaring" the other patrons. That is pure crap. That whole experience was crap and I'm not sure I even want to go back to the store. Hopefully the next time I brave that store I'll have a better experience. Oh and next time...I WILL have a better, more black more stud filled outfit.
